New VoIP (Voice over IP) System up and runningI have been running a new VoIP system for a couple of months now, testing and tweeking, and now think that it is stable enough to let people back on without breaking anything else :-PIf you want to be able to have an account and get cheap and free calls from your computer or even your smart phone with the appropriate software, then get in contact with me and I can create an account for you.-DJ

Bogus email alerts

Bogus emailsThere are a few bogus emails going round that are asking Webspider customers to change the POP3 or IMAP settings. You can rest assured that THEY DO NOT COME FROM ME! These are hackers trying to get our passwords because they don't have anything better to do...Any changes to email settings will NEVER be emailed to you unless you have requested them!David.

As smoothly as we can

All running smooth(ish)Well, things seem to be running as smoothly as we can hope for again. The new server is running nicely and serving up all that we need faster than before! The VoIP has been updated and will even work for things like conferences! The DNS is up and running without problems. If only I could be up and running without problems too :-PNo doubt there will be some other excuse down the road for something else to go wrong but with effectual backups in place things should be fine for now.-DJ

VoIP Down

VoIP 'issues'Due to the fact that I broke the server that runs VoIP last night you will notice that it is down!Rather than me spending hours trying to fix the machine I have asked for it to be reformatted back to a blank system and I will then put the latest software back on. I do have backups but I think it may end up being a whole lot easier just to start from scratch! Nobody had any saved messages etc so I will not worry about trying to get them back... the big issue is that half of webspiders / kalendales DNS system is on this server that went down... I am working at getting a backup where I can better control the DNS from and may well farm some of it out to another system if this lasts more than 24hours:-) Hopefully the remaining DNS servers will take on the load without issues and we will not notice that one server has gone downn the plug!** UPDATE ** VoIP mostly working, DNS all done, now I sleep... -DJ

Link repaired

Oops, wrong link!Ok, so I got it a bit wrong and the newsflash pointed to s place that no longer existed! If you are still having problems with trying to send emails via Webspider then please have a look at the news item concerning that. Click on the link top right in newsflash or click here (index.php?option=com_content task=view id=23 Itemid=2) !Basically we do not allow other ISPs to send webspider email any more. This is to get rid of more than half the spam that we do receive...RegardsDJ
